A quick introduction to the area and key points of interest
The Glen is a distributed community along the coast of St Finan's bay. At the centre of the area are the community centre, community playground and church. Local housing and businesses are spread out along the three main routes that head to Cahersiveen, Portmagee and Ballinskelligs.
The beach at St Finan's bay is a popular surfing destination while Glen Pier is a departure point for trips to the Skelligs and is also used by local boat owners as a launching and mooring location. Swimming from the beach needs to be done with care as there are strong undercurrents. Swimming from Glen pier is sheltered and an ideal location for those who want to snorkel or just relax without worrying about currents.
Other destinations of note in the area are Driftwood Surf Cafe, An Bothan and the Skellig Chocolate Factory. All are within easy walking distance of the beach or the pier.
The Glen is a special place for those who live here and those who visit so please ensure that you act responsibly and don't leave litter or allow dogs to cause a problem for other visitors or for livestock.
